FOR MODELS   up to 1949   WITH STRAIGHT SIDE ZIPPERS

MODEL SPECIFIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR PRE 1960 AUTOMOBILES

MANY MODELS FROM THIS ERA HAD DOUBLE SOLID WINDOWS (2 LAYER) WITH METAL WINDOW RINDS AND GLASS, WITH STRAIGHT SIDE ZIPPERS AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO BELOW. THESE WINDOWS WERE STAPLED ON THE BOTTOM TO THE WOOD RAILS IN THE BODY, AND FASTENED ALONG THE TOP EDGE OF THE WINDOW CURTAIN TO THE UNDERSIDE OF A METAL PLATE. THE METAL PLATE ( APPROX 2-3" WIDE x THE WIDTH OF THE WINDOW) IS SCREWED TO THE REAR EDGE OF THE UPPER REAR BOW AS SHOWN.

DEPENDING ON HOW MANY REPLACEMENT TOPS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON YOUR CAR, IT IS LIKELY SUBSEQUENT INSTALLERS THREW AWAY THE METAL PLATE, ELIMINATED THE SIDE ZIPPERS ( CHOOSING A HORIZONTAL REAR ZIPPER OR A HORSESHOE ZIPPER) AND CHANGED THE REAR BOW HEIGHT FOR BETTER VISIBILITY.

OUR TOPS ARE "RESTORATION QUALITY" - MADE THE ORIGINAL WAY THE TOPS WERE IN THIS ERA

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A METAL PLATE AS SHOWN, YOU MUST FABRICATE ONE.

WE LEAVE APPROX 1" EXCESS ON THE BOTTOM OF OUR WINDOW CURTAINS. USING THIS AS A GUIDE, CLAMP THE TOP EDGE OF THE WINDOW TO THE METAL PLATE AND ADJUST THE REAR BOW HEIGHT TO MEET OUR PATTERNS REQUIREMENTS. CHECK THE BOW HEIGHT WITH OUR TOP OVERLAYING THE WINDOW AND ADJUST THE BOW HEIGHT TO ACHIEVE BEST RESULTS.
